Following the successful management and development over ten years of his own medium-sized family business, and the subsequent trade sale thereof, Franklyn operated thereafter for many years as an independent freelance Interim MD/CEO, those roles all being exclusively in the Mid-Sized Business sector.
He has in recent years operated exclusively as an independent specifically-professionally-qualified Business Counsel focusing solely once again on the Mid-Sized Business sector. This role involves him in being at all times independent, detached, objective - and cost-effective and value-adding - also being pro-active, creative, innovative, lateral-thinking, wise counsel, flexible, adaptable, authentic, ethical, honest, open, transparent, catalytic, galvanising, challenging, motivating, performance-monitoring, implementation progress-chasing, empathetic and supportive, to name just a few of the relevant key attributes !
He has a successful track record particularly in the field of assisting productively the owners / directors / senior managers of Mid-Sized Companies, most commonly before during and after periods of planned significant strategic change and development in their businesses. Also particularly in the areas of (strategy change) business planning and development, and (critically) implementation, financial performance improvement, commercial management, strategic market / product planning and development, restructuring and reorganisation, turnaround / recovery, and outsourcing.
Originally from a strategic product / market planning background before moving in to general management, Franklyn has spent many years operating in and working with established and developing Mid-Sized Businesses and in a wide variety of industry sectors. He is particularly comfortable working with such companies, having actually run many (eighteen) such businesses himself as an interim MD, and he has assisted subsequently many Owner / Chairmen and Managing Directors of such businesses in the planning preparation, and most particularly in the implementation over x years of significantly-productive strategic change and development to their businesses, and doing so in the most value-adding and cost-effective manner possible
Franklyn has also acted frequently as a Business Counsel / Adviser in the planning preparation and implementation of exit strategies, and similarly with acquisitions, mergers, demergers, trade sales, venture capital / private equity and angel situations, also management buy-ins and buy outs and joint ventures and strategic alliances
Franklyn is a Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting (FIBC)
